We have the new demonstrator T2 in the water - Finally! The spring has just about arrived - yet we still have plenty of dense, heavy winter wind to play with.
We made it out yesterday for a short sail with a prospective owner from Wyoming! With the screacher on a beam reach, we managed to touch 14 knots! I was taking it easy for this first sail - so I'm sure we could have done better. The new demo seems rock solid and I'm eager to get more prospective owners out over the coming weeks.
By the way - the new demo also has the 2' taller mast, laminate sails, and (as mentioned) - the screacher sail. One other interesting note - it's outfitted with a test Tohatsu 50 High-Pressure Fuel Injection 2 Stroke. As compared to the Honda 50 - the engine does provide more power and can consistently run at 16 knots... but it's also slightly heavier (15 lbs or so) and louder. We may be able to work on the noise issue and will continue testing this engine for possible use in production. There's one other plus with this engine - much much less expensive than the Honda.
